I am not hesitating! I am ... waiting for the right moment!
—Torbolt to Steel, Torbolt The Terrible

Torbolt (sometimes misspelled as Turbolt) is a one-time character introduced in the second season of Max Steel. He is an Ultralink that doubted Makino's destructive ways and chose to follow his own path like Steel. Torbolt's only appearance is in Torbolt The Terrible and he is voiced by Andrew Francis.

History[]

Season 2[]

Torbolt The Terrible[]

Under Mega-Elementor's command, Torbolt and two Ultralinks attack N-Tek R.O.C.C.s. After being struck by a projectile sent by one of the tanks, Torbolt accidentally fired a laser that hit a barrel, causing a building to fall over the vehicles. Mega-Elementor praised Torbolt for his abilities, and the Ultralinks proceeded to bond with the tanks. Before they could, however, Max Steel intervened, forcing them to retreat.

In the Makino Destroyer orbiting Earth, Elementor praised Torbolt for his abilities once again and scolds the other two Ultralinks for not doing well in the mission. The trio later trained their aim. While doing so, one of the Ultralinks bumped into Torbolt, causing to spin uncontrollably and hit nearly every single target in the field. Elementor, still oblivious, praised the Ultralink. Blast Link approached the trio for another training mission at Copper Canyon. Before the trio heads to the city, Mega-Elementor requests to talk privately with Torbolt. He informed the Ultralink that he expected great things from him and that, if he succeeded, he would be greatly rewarded.

The villainous Ultralink group track down Steel in an alley. Two of the Ultralinks bonded with objects while Torbolt remained confused as to what he should do. Steel managed to incapacitate Blast while the other soldiers fought with each other to determine who would destroy Steel. He stumbled into Torbolt and is curious that a Makino soldier hesitated. Torbolt stated that he wasn't hesitating, and that he was just waiting for the right moment. Before he could confront Steel, he escapes.

In the Makino Destroyer, Torbolt observed Steel's files in one of the ship's terminals, asking himself how he broke free. He is found by Elementor, who thought he was studying the enemy. The Ultralink is later sent to confront Steel by himself while Elementor watched from the Destroyer. Torbolt is found by Steel, who attacked him. Aksteel once again noticed that he hesitated. Torbolt requested his help, asking how he broke free from Makino's control. Elementor, angered by his soldier's betrayal, commanded Blast and the Ultralinks to bring them to him. Meanwhile, Steel helped Torbolt, stating that all he should do was to make a choice. They are confronted by the villainous Ultralinks and Steel tells him to bond with something. Torbolt spotted a barrel with toxic chemicals, but he is shot by Blast during the linking process, knocking him into a dirty toy bear.

Torbolt followed Steel back to Max, who was at a football game. They are found by Mega-Elemetor, who attacked the two. While Torbolt distracted the villain, Max and Steel linked. They were later confronted by Blast and two Ultralinks, who are stopped by Torbolt's stuffing projectiles. With their combined might, Max Steel and Torbolt manage to defeat Mega-Elementor. The villain attempted to escape, but Torbolt told Max to throw him at them. He hugged Elementor, causing him to fall from the sky to the football field. He retreated and Max praised Torbolt. He revealed that he now felt free and leaves to explore the Earth, enjoying his newfound freedom.

Abilities[]

  • Ultralink Abilities
    • Linking Abilities: Torbolt's main ability consists of bonding with organic and inorganic material and weaponize it. In his case, he bonded to a dirty teddy bear, turning him into a human-sized technological toy bear.
    • Lasers: Torbolt can launch yellow-colored lasers through the tip of his arms in rapid succession.
    • Hovering: Like others of his kind, Torbolt can hover mid-air.
  • Superhuman Strength: Torbolt, in his bonded form, is stronger than an average individual. After he incapacitated Blast and two Ultralink monsters, he managed to knock them down with one blow.
  • Synthetic Stuffing Projectiles: Torbolt is capable of launching projectiles made out of synthetic stuffing through his fists or mouth. They have a sticky consistence, allowing him to incapacitate multiple enemies at once.
  • Regeneration: In his teddy bear form, Torbolt is capable of regenerating himself by reattaching his limbs.
  • Teddy Bear Hug: A unique power that Torbolt used during Mega-Elementor's escape attempt. In it, he hugged the villain mid-air, causing him to fall to the ground.

Etymology[]

Torbolt's name melds together the words "Turbo" and "Bolt".

Appearance[]

Torbolt is a four-legged Ultralink that possesses white and yellow armor. His elongated head/"torso" features a large black visor, a yellow eye and a white armor enveloping his body. He has a pair of arms attached to his front, and a pair of smaller ones attached to his back. Additionally, Torbolt features four stripes below his eye that light-up when he talks.

In his battle bear form, Torbolt assumes the appearance of a large purple bear. His Ultralink core is located on his nose and his Ultralink arms act as his eyebrows. He has silver armor wrapped around on the top and sides of his head, shoulders, hands, crotch and feet. He has light purple areas on his circular ears, mouth and nose and abdomen. Additionally, he has black button for eyes and one on his abdomen.

Personality[]

Torbolt: "I don't believe Makino's ways in devastation, in war. I want another way! I want to know how you did it. How did you break away?"

Shy, clumsy, passive and anxious, Torbolt is a pacifist Ultralink who wished to break free from Makino's control, believing that there was another way other than destruction and war. During his training missions, Torbolt hesitated to attack and did not act well under pressure. After he bonded with a teddy bear, he became more confident and stood up for himself, as exemplified during his confrontation with Mega-Elementor and the Ultralinks. Following the Ultralinks' defeat, Torbolt set out to explore the world and do whatever he chooses.

Relationships[]

Steel[]

Torbolt: "Aw quit it!"
Steel: "Quit it? What's with you pal? You're a little delicate for a Makino warrior."

Torbolt and Steel were initially enemies. They first met after Aksteel picked up Ultralink activity at Copper Canyon and went to investigate. Steel found Torbolt's behavior curious. They later met again, but rather than fighting him, Torbolt asks for Steel's help to break free. He later helps Max and Steel in their fight against Mega-Elementor.

Mega-Elementor[]

Torbolt: "You don't scare me! Alright you do scare me. But I am not backing down!"

Torbolt and Elementor were initially allies. Elementor respected Torbolt, telling his Ultralink soldiers that they should be as "terrible" as him. After Torbolt chose his own path, Elementor was extremely angry. During his confrontation with him, Torbolt revealed that he feared Elementor, but he refused to back down.

Trivia[]

  • He is the second good Ultralink seen in the series, with the first being Steel.
