At the Makino Destroyer orbiting Earth, Makino is seen contacting Metal Elementor, stating that Steel must be brought to his control. Metallak says that he wouldn't fail and introduces him to X376, claiming that he would be capable of sending a reconfiguration virus to reboot Steel. The Ultralink heads to Earth. Meanwhile, Maxwell McGrath and Steel are training with an upgraded Turbo Cycle on the desert, until Max hears sirens and Steel reveals that Sydney was in trouble.
While heading to the city, Steel reveals that her blood pressure was to the roof and her heart was beating faster. Max asks Berto how fast the Turbo Cycle can go, of which he replies by saying that it was faster than flying. Max quickly runs through the streets of Copper Canyon and Steel notes that the vehicle was indeed faster than flight and asks him why they were using the Turbo Cycle rather than Turbo Speed Mode, of which Max states that the cycle was cooler and he didn't wanted to get off the bike. Meanwhile, X376 watches them at distance and flies directly to them, eventually successfully linking with Max's link port, causing him and Steel to be thrown off the bike. Max quickly gets up and removes the Ultralink from his chest and throws him on the sewers. Steel approaches him, asking him what had happened and deduces that Metallak was truly desperate to bring him back as Max was already linked. They head to the Turbo Cycle, but it suddenly explodes and they decide to activate Turbo Flight Mode. While they are going to the Copper Canyon High School, Max contacts Berto and compliments his upgrades and reveals that the vehicle was destroyed, much to his annoyance.
Max finally arrives at school and ends crashing on the ground. He meets Sydney, who asks him if he was okay and he realizes that she was not on trouble. She says that Dean was asking her for the big dance and she was considering in saying yes, yet Max shouts her to not do it. Meanwhile at N-Tek, Berto is confused about why her status was to the roof due to a simple dance, of which Steel agrees and thinks that humans are strange. Berto and Steel start to discuss about how Max should behavior, causing him to get angry. He tries to be honest and explains that she couldn't go with Dean as he had planned him going with her to the big dance for months and that she already said yes to him many times on his thoughts. Dean gets angry and attempts to punch Max, but he quickly dodges. Sydney tells him that she was not going with him anymore and tells Max that she was going with him instead.
Later on, Max is hanging out with Kirby and Butch at a café. The latter two are disappointed with him as they were going to enjoy their "guys' night out". Meanwhile at the sewers, X376 contact Mega-Elementor, stating that his mission was successfull and he starts the countdown for the reboot process. Back at the café, Max and his friends are about to eat pancakes when the virus is activated, causing Max to pass out and switch bodies. Steel notes that he was now on Max's body and starts to shout for his help, while Butch notices that his voiced sounded "funny". Max, on Steel's body, gets out of his backpack and sees his own body and attempts to run away, only to land on Butch's pancake.
