Team Turbo[]
After the Daedelus Platform was destroyed, Steel received an emergency signal from World 31, one of N-Tek's facilities. They found Rayne, who first attacked them thinking that they were threats. They asked her what she was doing there, of which she explained that a medallion that Berto had given her directed her to World 31. Rather than finding Berto, she found Extroyer and his clones stealing technology and a deactivated C.Y.T.R.O.. Steel analyzed her medallion and realizes that it was made out of the same technology as C.Y.T.R.O.. After inserting a part of the medallion on his head, C.Y.T.R.O. gains his own conscience. He recognizes Max, Steel and Rayne, who quickly introduces herself to him. He explains Berto's plan, telling her that he was activated in case something had happened with N-Tek or Roberto.
Extroyer's clones attempt to break into the room. After activating Turbo Hammer Claw Mode, Max leads the way while C.Y.T.R.O. protects Rayne. They make their way out of the base and meet Extroyer, who commands his clones to attack them. Rayne attempts to fight against some of them, but C.Y.T.R.O. protects her. The group is forced to retreat and they head to a mountain to decide what they should do. Max suggests to take Rayne to a safe place, but realizes that it was impossible as the entire Copper Canyon was being attacked by the villains. He comes to the conclusion that the Connect-Tek device that Extroyer was searching for could be at the Ice Box facility.
The group head to the Ice Box. After successfully getting in, the group find a chamber where Jim McGrath explained the origins of the Connect-Tek and its abilities. They are interrupted by an unknown threat approaching the base. Rayne gears up and states that they couldn't let the Connect-Tek be stolen. The group rushes to the beach, where they find out that the "threat" was Alejandro Villar. They are forced to retreat after the Elementors approach the place. Max locks the door, but the Elementors manage to get in. Eventually, the group lock themselves up in the chamber where the Connect-Tek resided. Despite being reluctant at first, Rayne and Alejandro manage to convince Max to use the power of the Connect-Tek, leading to Team Turbo's creation.
The newly formed Team Turbo fight against the Elementors. Rayne's agility allows her to dodge the attacks of Air and Water Elementors, whom call her "little". Angered, she attacks them with her Thunderclap Whip and reveals her superhero alias, Tempestra. Despite Team Turbo's efforts however, Fire Elementor managed to sneak into the base and obtain the Connect-Tek. Team Turbo is ultimately defeated and the Connect-Tek is then stolen by Toxzon. While Rayne and Alex are recovering from their battle, Max decides to go after Toxzon by himself, as he felt guilty for endangering their lives.
After successfully obtaining the Connect-Tek, Max is rescued by C.Y.T.R.O. and he reunites with Team Turbo. Their reunion is interrupted by the Elementors, Extroyer and Toxzon, who team-up to take them down. Max charges Team Turbo with T.U.R.B.O. energy, allowing them to transform into their Turbo Modes. While La Fiera faces Extroyer and Max fights Toxzon, Tempestra and C.Y.T.R.O. take on Metal and Water Elementors. Air, Fire and Earth Elementors fuse themselves to create Firestorm Elementor, who knocks the duo down with a fire wave. Metal and Water eventually decide to join the fusion to create Mega-Elementor. Tempestra and C.Y.T.R.O. combine their attacks in order to weaken them, and then the rest of the team coordinate their attacks and successfully take down the creature. Afterwards, Steel and Tempestra high five and they commemorate their victory over the villains, until Mortum interferes, who uses his Transdimensional powers to steal the Connect-Tek.
Luckily, Team Turbo had sneaked in a piece of the Connect-Tek sword on the container of the device, which allowed them to track down Mortum's location. Before escaping, the villain plants bombs on Jim, Kat and Molly and activates a shield to prevent them from being saved by Max. Steel quickly finds the sources of the shield and each member of the team goes after it. Tempestra destroys various walls and uses her electricity powers to destroy it and after the rest of the team also disable it, Max successfully save his loved ones. Team Turbo reunite with Max and they celebrate their victory over Mortum.
Team Turbo Fusion Tek[]
Turbo-Charged[]
In search of hostages, Max Steel and Team Turbo invade an abandoned warehouse. However, it was revealed to be a trap. As various energy cubes begin emerging from the ground, the group attempts to fend them off, but are depowered and defeated. They are taken to a mysterious location where a masked individual conduces an experiment with Max while an unconscious Team Turbo are contained inside chambers. After obtaining a portion of McGrath's T.U.R.B.O. energy, the masked individual commands his henchmen to electrocute Team Turbo. Upon seeing his friends being hurt, Max nearly goes supernova and releases a large T.U.R.B.O. energy wave that destroys all the electronical devices on the place, causing a massive explosion.
After the incident, Rayne, Alex and C.Y.T.R.O. hid themselves at an abandoned subway. The group heads to their hideout, where Max trains his new green new T.U.R.B.O. energy. Meanwhile, Rayne does a research about the identity of the masked individual that had attacked them and discovers that it could be a billionaire named Dr. Prometheus Halifax. After the discovery, Max decides to investigate the building of the Halifax Industries. Before they leave, Steel introduces them to their new Connect-Tek Armors adapted to Max's new powers.
While Max and Alex investigate the building, Tempestra and C.Y.T.R.O. recover top secret information from the top of the building. However, Rayne and C.Y.T.R.O. are discovered by the security. A prison of lasers forms around them and begins to get closer to them as time goes by. Eventually, Tempestra activates her Turbo Ice Storm Mode to freeze the lasers, but they quickly heat up. C.Y.T.R.O. manages to obtain the information needed and the duo escapes from the place, which shortly explodes after they leave. They end up at the main hall of the building where Max, Alex and Prometheus, now under the name of Terrorax, were fighting. Due to the villain's strength, Team Turbo is forced to retreat.
Back on Team Turbo's base, Rayne helps Max to reactivate C.Y.T.R.O., who had been deactivated during his last battle against Terrorax. Thanks to the info that Rayne and C.Y.T.R.O. had obtained, Steel finds the location of three Terror Energy emitters located in three distinct locations. Max and Team Turbo head to these locations, but are instead greeted by Terrorax's newly formed "Team Terror". Tempestra and C.Y.T.R.O. deal with Monstro, who uses his cloning powers to create small minions to swarm the heroes. Thanks to C.Y.T.R.O.'s efforts, Monstro is buried and defeated. Team Turbo then head to Terrorax's Hideout, whose location was given earlier by the villain.
There, Tempestra and the others attempt to stop Terrorax's plans of wiping out the technology of Copper Canyon. However, he sends out Team Terror to fight against them. Tempestra fights against Snare, an assassin robot. She is restrained in the wall with an energy net and he launches a spinning saw at her, but she freezes it and sends it back to him, leading to his defeat. She frees herself and helps Max to defeat Monstro by releasing a fog in her Turbo Ice Storm Mode. While Tempestra, La Fiera and C.Y.T.R.O. distract Terrorax, Max manages to reactivate the power at Copper Canyon. After doing so, the villain releases a powerful energy shockwave that temporarily knocks down Tempestra and the others.
Eventually, Terrorax is defeated by Max and his base begins to self-destruct. Team Turbo rescues Team Terror and they fly back to their hideout while commemmorating their victory over the Nexus.
Turbo-Warriors[]
Abilities[]
- Superhuman Strength: Rayne is stronger than an average individual due to her Connect-Tek suit, which enhances her conditions.
Arsenal[]
- Connect-Tek Suit: In Team Turbo, Rayne gains a Connect-Tek suit that offers her protection and the ability of turning into Turbo Storm Modes. Its Connect-Tek technology allows it to configure and reconfigure its pieces to form countless new battle forms. The suit can only operate if it is charged with enough T.U.R.B.O. energy.
- Turbo Storm Modes: Tempestra's battle modes allow her to control the weather. She can get stronger, more agile and durable and even fly.
- Brain Shield (temporarily): In Team Turbo Fusion-Tek, Rayne gained a holographic brain shield made by Steel to repel Mortum's zombies. It temporarily made Rayne unable to transform into her Turbo Storm Modes, however.
- Rayne's Motorcycle: As seen in Team Turbo Fusion-Tek, Rayne has her own motorcycle.
Skills[]
- Expert Markswoman: As proven in Team Turbo Fusion-Tek, Rayne is a skilled markswoman, being capable of taking down various zombies with a blaster.
Weaknesses[]
- T.U.R.B.O. Energy Shortage: If Rayne's Connect-Tek armor runs out of Max's energy, she is temporarily unable to switch between her Turbo Storm Modes.
Etymology[]
Rayne's alter ego name makes a reference to her weather-controlling abilities. Part of her name (Tempestra) refers to the word tempest, which is a violent windy storm.
Rayne's name also sounds similar to the word rain.
Appearance[]
Rayne is the shortest member of Team Turbo. She has short black hair with purple bangs over her left eye, green eyes and light pink lips. She uses purple earrings, a white shirt over a black and purple jacket, dark purple jeans and white shoes.
As Tempestra, she wears a close-fitting purple-black-pink suit. She uses a sleeveless suit with a black and pink helmet, two gauntlets matching the colors of her armor and has the Team Turbo logo in the right side of her chest, featured by a white piece with a small blue logo.
Like other members of Team Turbo, Rayne's suit was redesigned to match with Max's new Green T.U.R.B.O., featuring a slightly complex and more detailed design. Her suit gains green patterns on her neck, lower torso and gauntlets. She also gains dark purple on legs and the white piece on the right side of her chest gains a slight redesign, this time being having angular edges and Team Turbo's logo being in the center.
Personality[]
- "Rayne is mercurial, like the weather — stormy one minute, all sunshine the next. But one thing about her never changes: her desire to help the people in need. That, and she can’t stand being called Little Thunder!" — Official Website
Rayne is described as a mercurial individual. Strong, courageous, friendly, smart and tomboyish, Rayne likes to help people in need and do good. She dislikes being referred to as "Little Thunder" or simply little. She also seems to be rather impulsive, as in Team Turbo, she ignored Max's warning to not attack Air Elementor, which led to Team Turbo's defeat.
Relationships[]
Roberto Martinez[]
Roberto and Rayne are siblings. He deeply cares about Rayne and was the one who gave her the nickname of "Little Thunder". In Team Turbo, he programmed a chip containing an AI for C.Y.T.R.O. to protect her in case something had happened to him, showing how much he cared about Rayne.
Maxwell McGrath[]
Prior to Team Turbo, Rayne and Max had already met before. During their first interaction, Rayne attacked Max as she thought that he was a villain. After realizing that it was him, she hugged him. She also cares a lot of Max, seen when she felt relieved when C.Y.T.R.O. managed to rescue Max from drowning in a deep lake located on Copper Canyon. Other instance was in Turbo-Charged, when Max was about to reactivate the technology on Copper Canyon, but Rayne protested and said that he couldn't do that, as it would require large amounts of Green T.U.R.B.O..
Steel[]
Alejandro Villar[]
Alex and Rayne are good friends. When the Elementors were attacking the Ice Box facility, Alex saved her life and she greatly admired his action. She often jokes around with him, as seen in Team Turbo Fusion-Tek and Turbo-Warriors.
In Turbo-Warriors, when Alex was on flames after being attacked by Fire and Metal Elementor, Rayne calms him down by saying that she was there and there was no need to worry.
C.Y.T.R.O.[]
C.Y.T.R.O. and Rayne are friends. Roberto programmed C.Y.T.R.O. to protect her, therefore he is very protective around her and tries to prevent her from endangering herself in any way he can. He also refers to her as Little Thunder.
The Elementors[]
Out of the five Elementors, Rayne shows a rivalry with Air Elementor, who called her "little" during their first interaction.

Trivia[]
- Rayne's design resembles various female characters from the classic series, namely Electrix and Kat Ryan. Her Turbo Lightning Storm Mode greatly resembles Electrix's suit, being mostly black and having white lanes shaped as thunders. Her hairstyle and green eyes resemble Kat's past incarnation.
- She is the youngest member of Team Turbo.
- Her background story is very similar to Agura from Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5.
- Unlike Berto, she doesn't mix Spanish words in her phrases.
- In Team Turbo Fusion-Tek, it is revealed that Berto and Rayne used to play at their aunt's farm house. It is later shown that the place was equipped with heavy weaponry featuring N-Tek's signature colors. Due to this detail, it is possible that Rayne knew of N-Tek's existence since her childhood.
- Tempestra is the only member of Team Turbo to not have her own action figure. According to a former Max Steel toy line designer, she did not have her own toy due to the fact that female action figures don't sell well. [3]
- In 2016, a mini website was created to promote Team Turbo Fusion-Tek, which featured a game and a quiz. In said quiz, Tempestra was incorrectly referred to as "Electra". It is possible that this was the character's working name.
- She might been 14 Years Old in the Pre-Time Skip Era.
