Purple Tweezer Ultralink, also known as Butch Link, was a minor villain introduced in the second season of Max Steel. It bonded with Butch and sports gear. Its only appearance was in My Best Friend is an Ultralink.
History[]
Season 2[]
My Best Friend is an Ultralink[]
Alongside two Ultralinks, the Tweezer Ultralink was wandering Copper Canyon until Ven-Ghan tracked them down. The hunter asked for Max's help to contain them. McGrath, who was leaving school, was followed by Butch and his sidekicks, unaware that they were also being followed by Sydney Gardner and Kirby Kowalski. The group ended up in a dead end alleyway, unaware that the Ultralinks were nearby. Upon seeing Sydney, Kirby and Butch, the Ultralink trio bonded with them.
Max and Steel attempted to link, but the human-Ultralink trio attacked them. After going Turbo Speed, McGrath manages to trick Sydney and Kirby, but is attacked by Butch, causing a building to partially fall on him. The Ultralink trio escape into the sewers, but Ven-Ghan uses his gear to track them down. The two teams once again engage in combat, with the Ultralink trio having the advantage.
The two teams end up in an empty viaduct, where a Makino Destroyer rapidly approaches to recover the Ultralink trio. After Kirby and Sydney were unlinked, Butch Link attempts to reunite with the Ultralinks, but Max intervenes. McGrath reminds Butch of how much he loved to dance, weakening his Ultralink bond, allowing Ven-Ghan to unlink Butch from the parasite.
Abilities[]
- Ultralink Abilities
- Linking Abilities: Like other Ultralinks, it could bond with organic or inorganic material and weaponize it. In its case, the Ultralink bonded with Butch, who was holding a bag with his sports gear.
- Hovering: Like other Ultralinks, it could float in its regular form.
- Superhuman Strength: Butch Link's most notable trait was his superhuman strength. He was capable of tackling McGrath, in his Turbo Speed Mode, into a building, causing it to be partially destroyed.
- Superhuman Durability: Butch Link's body was enveloped by a thick layer of armor, offering him additional protection and durability.
Weaknesses[]
- Vulnerability to Ultralink Hunters' Weapons: Like others of its kind, it was vulnerable to Ven-Ghan and his technology. By using it, he was able to successfully separate it from its host, Butch.
Appearance[]
In its unbonded form, it had the same characteristics as a regular Tweezer Ultralink. It had a thick armor layers on his "torso", featuring an opening on its middle for its eye, and lower arms.
Butch Link's design is styled after an American football player. His head was protected by a green-colored helmet-like armor featuring an opening on the mouth region. He had sharp, green-black-purple armor plating on his upper torso, green-black-purple forearm pads and black/pink gloves. He had additional plating on his knees, shins and feet.
Personality[]
Like other Ultralinks, Butch Link blindly followed Makino's orders and wished to reunite with the rest of his comrades. He was brute and aggressive.
Trivia[]
- Not counting Knockout, Power Wing and Quikfire, who only appeared in the graphic novels, Butch Link, Kirby Link and Sydney Link were the only teenager villains in the entire series.
