The Megalinks are a group of recurring minor villains introduced in the second season of Max Steel. Like Ultralinks, they are techno-organic parasitic aliens capable of bonding to inanimate objects and living beings to create monsters designed for mass destruction. They are responsible for piloting Makinian vehicles, managing Makinian technology and devices, and finding potential hosts for Ultralinks to bond with. They have higher ranks compared to Ultralinks. They debuted in Dredd Ascendant.
History[]
Early Life[]
Although their origins are unknown, they were most likely created to find hosts more easily to Ultralinks, instead of them being sent to link with something.
Season 2[]
Toxic Relationship[]
At the night, a Megalink is wandering the streets of Copper Canyon in hopes of finding powerful hosts for Ultralinks to bond with. He eventually finds Toxzon, who attempts to escape as he sees the Makino Deployer. The Megalink sends out an Ultralink to link with the villain, but instead it bonds to Fishy. Upon seeing the result, he shrugs it off and leaves.
Abilities[]
Like Ultralinks, Megalinks have the ability of bonding with living beings or inanimate objects to create a creature designed for mass destruction. For example, the Megalink Metallak bonded to a pyramid statue to form Metal Elementor. Bonded Megalinks have superhuman conditions, being stronger and more durable than an average individual and can fight during hours without needing to rest.
Contrary to Ultralinks, who are small parasitic creatures, Megalinks have a mechanical humanoid body. They can shoot small lasers through their hands[1] and are capable of calculating the "weapon potential" of a potential host in seconds. Additionally, they can intercept communications, as seen in Dredd Ascendant. Megalinks are capable of absorbing other Ultralinks into their beings to increase their power, a process referred to as "annexing".[2] An example is Mega-Elementor, the fusion of Metal Elementor and Ultimate Elementor.
In their bonded state, the weak spot of a Megalink is their energy core, which is located on their head. If hit with enough strength, the Megalink will remain distracted for a couple of seconds, allowing their foes to attack. If the energy core of a fused Megalink is hit with enough power, their fusion will be undone immediately.[3]
Overview[]
Unlike Ultralinks, Megalinks are not separated by subspecies. However, certain Megalinks like Metal Elementor have a slightly different design compared to others of his species. Most of the Megalinks seen on the series have a robotic body with red accents and an Raider Ultralink for a head. Metallak has the head of a Fighter Ultralink and possess traces of gold in his armor. Zelak, a Megalink from a graphic novel, have the same design as others of his kind, but his armor accents are yellow rather than red.
Megalinks are usually found in Deployers. They spend most of their time searching for powerful hosts for Ultralinks to bond with. Their information screen allows them to quickly scan a target to determine their weapon potential. If the host is appropriate, they will send out an Ultralink to bond with them. They are also found in Destroyer ships, as well as the Alphalink, as seen in The Final Countdown Part One. They are responsible for managing the technology of the weapon, preparing it as to when it is about to absorb a planet, or to activate its weapons under Makino's commands.
Megalinks have a mostly stoic, robotic and emotionless behavior. However, they have a malevolent and cruel side to them, as they take pleasure in seeing others suffer, as seen in Toxic Relationship when a Megalink nearly knocked down Vin and Dwayne's car with their Deployer and laughed. They are extremely loyal to Makino and are extremely respectful towards him, referring to him as their "Lord Makino".
