Max Steel: Team Turbo (alternatively titled as Team Turbo Part One and Team Turbo Part Two) is the first animated film of the 2016 duology, and the fourth film overall of Max Steel. Alongside its successor, Team Turbo Fusion-Tek, it is one of the two films to be animated by Arc Productions. The movie was released in March 18, 2016 in Latin America. It was directed by Sam Chou, produced by Vera M. Hourani and Rob David and written by Rob David and Rich Fogel.
In the UK, the movie was transmitted by CITV over two days, being them March 22 and 23 of 2016. The movie was divided into two episodes, each containing around 22 minutes. Several days later, the movie was available online but only for UK viewers, although it was later removed.
Max and Steel face their greatest challenge ever! When Max’s greatest enemies unite to take down N-Tek and conquer Copper Canyon, Max and Steel realize that they can’t save the day on their own. It’s time to form a new team of heroes with Tempestra, La Fiera, and C.Y.T.R.O. – TEAM TURBO!

The movie starts with Berto being woken by Jefferson Smith, who was asking for his help. After he gets up, he checks the systems of the Daedelus and declares that it was a "total system failure" and that they were going down. Meanwhile, Jim commands the soldiers to evacuate the falling ship, until a mysterious individual teleports to the vehicle. Mortum, as he introduces himself, states that he would be N-Tek's villain at that morning. Jim commands the fleet to shoot him, but Mortum's armor deflects their attacks. He releases a powerful energy wave that knocks down the agents around him, including Jim. He quickly gets up and forms a sword to fight back against the villain. However, he is quickly subdued by Mortum, who knocks him down once again. Jefferson sneaks on his back and attacks him with a screwdriver, but Mortum's armor protects him. He attacks Jefferson and is then attacked by Jim and his sword. Mortum quickly grabs the blade of the sword and uses his strength to destroy its blade, shattering it. He then punches Jim's stomach and holds him by his shoulder while asking where the Connect-Tek was. Jim refuses to reveal the location of the device, angering Mortum. He throws him on the ground and uses his powers to levitate and teleport away the remaining agents on the ship.
Mattel released a toy line based on Team Turbo. Besides having the logo of the film, the boxes featured Team Turbo's members with their initial Turbo Modes and a red coloring to distinguish the line from the other toys. There was also as small window labelled as "From the movie!".
The toy line was first shown in the 2015 edition of the CCXP (Comic Con Experiece), the largest convention about pop culture on Latin America, hosted on São Paulo, Brazil.[1]. The figures were shown in six hexagonal-shaped showcases. There was also a panel featuring a giant image of Morphos in cardboard of which people could take pictures with.
Production[]
Team Turbo was already in production in late 2015. Team Turbo, alongside Team Turbo Fusion-Tek, were featured on Mattel's 2016 content slate.[2]
In December, four TV spots for the 2016 toy line were made, with one of them being based in one of the scenes of the movie, specifically the battle of Max against Extroyer's clones.[4]
In February 28, Sam Chou, the director of the film, released a short teaser of the film featuring the finished animation and dub.[5]
In January 2021, Team Turbo and Team Turbo Fusion-Tek were added to the Amazon Prime streaming services.

Trivia[]
Team Turbo and its successor, Team Turbo Fusion-Tek, were both animated by Arc Productions. Nerd Corps Entertainment wasn't involved anymore in the project as the studio had been recently bought by DHX Media.
Omari Newton, Nicole Oliver and Kathleen Barr didn't reprise their roles as Jefferson Smith, Molly McGrath and Kat Ryan either due to the budget or time restraints. Instead, Trevor Devall provides Jefferson's grunts, a sample of Nicole Oliver shouting Berto's name was used and Lili Beaudoin briefly voiced her and Kat Ryan had no speaking role on the entire film.
Additionally, several characters like Steel, Extroyer, Toxzon and the Elementors do not have effects applied to their voices, causing them to sound different compared to the previous appearances. Despite misconceptions, these characters are still voiced by the same voice actors who previously voiced them.
The DVD of the film was packaged with some of the action figures from the 2017 toy line.
In 2016, Team Turbo was split into 18 parts and was uploaded on the series' Official Website and YouTube channel. Each part had around 2 to 3 minutes and were available in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish.
Team Turbo marks the last time in which N-Tek and its agents appear. An explanation about their disappearance is not given. It also marks the last appearances of Extroyer and Toxzon.
