“I am vengeance! I am destruction! I am... EXTROYER! —Extroyer, Extroyer Unleashed
Extroyer, formerly known as Troy Winter, is a recurring villain introduced in the first season of Max Steel. Prior to his mutation, Troy was a mercenary hired by Miles Dread to steal an Ultralink from N-Tek's hands. He double-crosses the villain, deciding to keep the device for himself. However, the Ultralink blew up on Troy, transforming him into a grotesque mutant with shapeshifting abilities. Unpredictable and volatile, Extroyer can assimilate and recreate traces of animals, otherworldly creatures and even Max's modes by touching them or looking at them.
After becoming Extroyer, the villain initially used his newfound powers to have revenge on Miles, whom he blamed for his mangled fate. However, he is easily subdued by Dread, who later proposes an alliance to deal with Max Steel. After this encounter with the hero, Extroyer was constantly seeking ways to become more powerful by obtaining new forms. After a battle with Max Steel, Extroyer was taken into custody by N-Tek's forces, being temporarily imprisoned in one of the organization's facilities. With Miles' aid, Extroyer manages to escape and returns to usual villainous schemes. After failing repeatedly to defeat Max Steel, he decides to Extroy him and manages to assume the form of a corrupted version of one his modes. However, he is ultimately defeated and is once again arrested.
During Makino's final incursion, the plates of the Alphalink caused N-Tek's prison cells to falter, allowing Extroyer, Toxzon, Miles and Jason to escape. During one of Extroyer's bank heists, he is confronted by Morphos, who imprisons him at the Copper Canyon prison. Extroyer, Toxzon and the Elementors are later rescued by Miles, who proposes an alliance with them to take down Morphos, as the villain had recently mutated the entire city into monsters like him and was planning to take over the world.
In Team Turbo, Extroyer is recruited by professor Mortum to steal the Connect-Tek, a powerful technological device developed by Jim McGrath, Maxwell's father. Thanks to Mortum, Extroyer finds one of N-Tek's facilities, World 31 and invades it. He later confronts Max and his newly founded Team Turbo, but lost his fight against La Fiera after being crushed by a container.
Nothing is known about Troy's early life, with the exception that he was a mercenary. Before the events of The Thrill of the Hunt, Dread hired him to steal an Ultralink from N-Tek's hands.
After N-Tek recovered an Ultralink from an alien spacecraft, Troy and his henchmen intercepted the organization's forces and managed to take down their vehicles to steal the device. After finding the tank in which the Ultralink resided, Troy used a sonic gun to knock out the agents and used a technological saw to cut the shell of the vehicle and enter on it. Forge attempted to stop him, but Troy knocked him out by kicking his face.
Miles talks with Troy.
In his hideout, Troy revealed that he would only give 20% of the payment to Vin and Dwayne, angering them. They asked him to reconsider it, of which he agreed. He told them to enter in a dark room so they could negotiate. He closed the door, revealing that his black tiger resided in there and told them that he hadn't eaten in days. As they struggled to survive, Troy watched and laughed. Afterwards, Jason arrived to inspect the Ultralink and discovered that it wasn't working properly and, as such, he wouldn't be paid. Angry, Troy threatened him with a knife, requesting him and assistant to pay him. Naught hurled a device that showed Dread as an hologram so they could renegotiate. He informed the mercenary that he knew where the missing pieces of the Ultralink were and that he would give the needed reinforcements to invade the place.
Troy fights Molly.
Troy invaded THI's headquarters and searched for the remaining pieces, only to be intercepted by Molly, who was equipped with her ninja suit to fight him. After a quick fight, he managed to steal the pieces and escaped from the building, heading back to his motorcycle. While escaping, he was chased by Max Steel, although Troy manages to temporarily immobilize him by using an energy net from his motorcycle. With Steel's help, Max freed himself and used the Turbo Cycle to chase him, but he is confronted by Fire and EarthElementors.
Troy and Jason witness the power of the Ultralink.
Troy returned to his hideout, where he found Jason and his assistant. They inserted the missing piece on the Ultralink, making it fully operable. Naught mentioned about the power that the device emanated, causing Troy to reconsider his part of the deal. Winter refused to hand over the Ultralink, despite Jason's protests. He throwed the suitcase with the money to the mercenary, who used a baton to electrocute Jason. He told him and his assistant to get out and leave the Ultralink and the money behind. Back in his compound, Troy contemplated the Ultralink, stating that it belonged to him and no one else.
Troy mutates.
He opened the suitcase and a holographic recording of Dread popped up, warning Troy that, if he was seeing that, it meant he had been betrayed and that Winter would pay the price. The Ultalink exploded, with Troy being caught in the explosion and becoming a mutant. N-Tek later invaded his hideout, only to find it devastated along with an empty suitcase. Meanwhile, Troy was in a dark room watching cameras of his former hideout, claiming that Troy no longer existed, only Extroyer.
Extroyer, as a black tiger, invaded Paragon Labs' headquarters. He was found by Lewis, one of the guards of the place. He threatened him, telling him to leave if he valued his "puny" life. As he left, Extroyer trashed the place, claiming that he was vengeance and destruction.
Max faces Extroyer as a black tiger.
Hours later, Extroyer attempted to invade another warehouse, but he was confronted by Max Steel. He advised the hero to not interfere with him, but Max ignored his warning. Extroyer painfully mutated into a black tiger and tackled the hero. Max managed to knock him back and activated Turbo Strength Mode, but Extroyer succeeded in overpowerong him. While Max remained barely conscious, the villain invaded the warehouse and destroyed it. He returned to his humanoid form and escaped, while the heroic duo attempted to chase him, but were caught in a large explosion from the warehouse.
Extroyer versus Earth Elementor.
Extroyer returned to one of his compounds, where he talked about his intentions of having revenge against Dread. He is contacted by Martin, one of Paragon Labs' workers. He revealed that one of Dread's companies would be taking a delivery at midnight. Extroyer, as a black tiger, later invaded the place and was confronted by Earth Elementor. After dealing a powerful blow on the Ultralink's energy core, Extroyer managed to defeat him. Dread, who had watched their fight, complimented Troy's new powers. Winter revealed his intentions of taking down Miles, of which he simply ignored, claiming that he didn't knew anything about "true power". Extroyer pounced at him, but Dread launched a powerful energy ray that knocked him down. He set up a new mission for him: fetch Max Steel.
Max versus spider Extroyer.
Extroyer was later confronted by Max Steel in a test site. The hero activated Turbo Strength Mode to deal with the villain, who became a tiger to fight back. Extroyer managed to easily overpower the hero, causing Max to rethink his strategy. He activated Turbo Flight Mode and used Steel to launch T.U.R.B.O. energy blasts at the villain. After he was knocked back by one of the rays, he spotted a spider and extroyed it, turning into a giant mutated spider. Using his webs, Extroyer managed to incapacitate Max and Steel. The Ultralink later managed to re-bond with McGrath, activating Turbo Strength Mode and knocking back the villain. Finally, Max used Steel to launch T.U.R.B.O. energy blasts at Extroyer, but instead activated the test site with his power. Miles activated a nuclear missile powered by Maxwell's energy.
Max activated Turbo Flight Mode and headed to the missile in attempt of deactivating it. Extroyer chased him and trapped McGrath and Steel with his webs. After the Ultralink freed himself, he struck a powerful energy blast at Extroyer, sending him hurtling away from the surface of the missile. He landed on the ocean, where he found a shark and extroyed it, claiming he lived. Meanwhile, Miles erroneously thought that Winter had perished during the battle.
Extroyer, as a giant spider, attacked Vin and Dwayne's car and ensnared them with his webs. He warned them had not delivered what he had ordered them to fetch, and told them to do anything in order to get it.
Black cobra Extroyer versus Max Steel.
After Vin and Dwayne kidnapped Sydney Gardner, they headed to Extroyer's hideout. Unknown to them, they were followed by Max Steel in his Turbo Car, which was invisible. As he stepped out from the vehicle, he is attacked by Extroyer, who threw a large wooden box at him. Transforming into a tiger, he delivered a powerful blow on his face, knocking him out for some seconds. He turned around, telling Sydney that her "boyfriend" had something that belonged to him. Max activated Turbo Strength Mode and asked Extroyer to once again let go of Sydney. He pounced at her and once again demanded it. Max headed to his car and found a packaging. He threw the box to Extroyer, who returned to his human form. He grabbed it and showed its contents: living DNA samples of the world's rarest and deadliest creatures. He broke the vial of a black cobra DNA, turning into a monstrous, giant-sized version of the animal.
Extroyer lives.
Extroyer pounced at Max, but he dodged his attack. He treated, activating Turbo Speed Mode and delivering a powerful blow on his face. While Max fought Extroyer, Steel un-linked from his chest to help Sydney escape the place. After she left, the Ultralink re-bonded with Max and they activated Turbo Flight Mode. However, Extroyer managed to defeat them by throwing them across the battlefield with his immense strength. He returned to his human form and contemplated which form he should assume to fight them. Meanwhile, Steel linked with the Turbo Car and ran over him, causing the DNA vials to fall on top of him. As a result, Extroyer mutated grotesquely, ultimately fainting.
Max Steel and Extroyer were fighting in a deserted area outside Copper Canyon. He transformed into a spider and pounced at the hero, causing them to fall on the top of a moving truck. Extroyer managed to subdue Max, but is ultimately defeated after being hit by an overpass, causing him to fall off from the vehicle. The heroic duo attempt to track him down, but Extroyer hid himself. After they left, he removed some plushies stuck in his Ultralink shards and rationalized that he would need more power in order to defeat them.
Steel touches Extroyer's Ultralink.
Extroyer broke into a laboratory, finding a gorilla. While extroying it, Steel touched his Ultralink, interrupting the process. He is knocked back by a large explosion and attempted to morph into an animal, but failed. He began to erroneously transform into random animals, ultimately ending up in his black cobra mode. He managed to eat Steel, but is knocked out after a gas canister exploded inside him. He returned to his humanoid form and Steel touched his Ultralink, witnessing one of its memories.
Extroyer holds Molly hostage.
With his Ultralink further damaged, Extroyer headed to THI's headquarters to repair it. He broke into the building and confronted Molly. He warned her that, if she wanted to live, she would do exactly what he said. Suddenly, Extroyer morphed into a black cobra and attacked her. He demanded her to open the vault with the Ultralink parts. After he transformed into a black tiger and once again demanded it, the two headed to her office, but the parts were no longer there. Extroyer attacked her, but she managed to knock him back and get her phone, which was ringing. After she mentioned Max's name, the villain stole her phone and demanded the Ultralink parts from N-Tek. He warned that he should come alone, otherwise he would kill Molly.
Extroyer gorilla.
While Max, by himself, headed to the building, Molly asked what Extroyer wanted to accomplish. He answered he wanted to have revenge against Max Steel. She asked Extroyer if he simply expected him to give him the device, of which he replies that he would never do anything to endanger an "innocent woman". Molly tried to attack him, but Extroyer grabbed her with his tail and threatened to drop her from the top of the building, until Max Steel arrived. He returned to his humanoid form and throwed Molly toward Max. He placed the nano-energy regulator in the Ultralink, causing it to function properly again, allowing him to transform into a gorilla. He attacked the two, but Molly managed to temporarily blind him with a flash grenade. She activated her ninja armor and tried to leave place, but Extroyer recovered and threw himself from the building alongside the two.
Extroyer's gorilla form is defeated.
During the fight, Extroyer threw Max from the top of a building. However, Steel re-bonded with Max and the two activated Turbo Flight Mode. Extroyer attempted to retreat, but was attacked by Max, Molly and C.Y.T.R.O., who joined the fight. Maxwell followed Extroyer to another building, where he was temporarily knocked out by the villain. Molly and C.Y.T.R.O. attempted to stop him, but failed. McGrath activated Turbo Speed Mode to fight him, but also failed. Thanks to their new Turbo Stealth Mode, Max Steel turned invisible and managed to defeat Extroyer, who escaped following his defeat.
Extroyer builds a device for a secondary Ultralink.
In his hideout, Extroyer was building a device while revealing his intent of using Steel's power to combine all his forms. He later red the Copper Canyon High School Times, claiming that kids were smart and that he needed to know what they were thinking. He spotted a picture of Maxwell's science project and instantly recognized Steel, who was in it.
Extroyer chases Steel.
Dr. Thornhill sent Maxwell's "science project" to an unknown individual for them to take a look. Unknown to him, he had sent it to Extroyer. In his hideout, Steel was freed and the villain chased him throughout the place. He eventually managed to subdue him and placed the Ultralink in a device. Extroyer headed to the top of a building, where he was found by a N-Tek Jump Jet thanks to Steel emanating energy signals. Using him as a secondary Ultralink, Extroyer transformed into a gigantic, chimeric aberration. He flied toward the vehicle and began to attack it. Forge and Maxwell, using a helmet so Extroyer wouldn't recognize him, headed to the top of the jet to confront the villain. While Ferrus distracted Extroyer, Max climbed on his back and freed the Ultralink, causing the villain to return to his humanoid form.
Extroyer and Max fight for Steel.
Steel attempted to re-bond with Max, but failed after Extroyer ensnared him with his web as a spider. Forge threw a hunting knife at Steel to free him from the villain’s web, but instead, it caused him to fall from the jet. While McGrath jumped from the ship to reach Steel, Ferrus dealt with Extroyer. After the two re-bonded, Max attacked the villain, causing him to fall from the ship. While falling, Extroyer managed to remove him from McGrath's chest, deactivating his Turbo Flight Mode. He demanded Max to let go of Steel, but he refused to, stating that he was willing to go down for him. Ultimately, Extroyer chose to save himself. He later confronted Max, showing his animal modes to prove him that he had a wide arsenal of beasts to defeat him. He is then cornered by Forge and seemingly surrenders. Steel, angered, tells Extroyer to remove the device from his chest. After doing so, he activated it and threw it at Max and Steel. After a large explosion, Extroyer managed to escape.
Extroyer, Vin and Dwayne headed to Copper Canyon History Museum for a heist. He is confronted by Max Steel and transformed into a gorilla. He managed to subdue Extroyer, but Vin and Dwayne attacked him. Ultimately, the villain managed to steal an amber stone and escaped. The trio return to Extroyer's hideout, where Vin and Dwayne apologized for failing. He revealed that everything went as planned, and cracked the amber stone. Extroyer revealed that a mosquito was inside of it, and that it had sucked blood from a dinosaur sixteen million years ago. Using his abilities, the villain becomes a tyrannosaurus rex.
T-Rextroyer versus Max.
Hours later, Sydney and Kirby (using a Max Steel costume) headed to a park at Copper Canyon and used flashlights to form a "Steel signal", catching Extroyer's attention. He headed to their location and attacked them, believing to be fighting against the real Max Steel. Gardner attempted to use a vial of suspended animation to defeat the villain, but it hit Kirby instead. The two ran away while Extroyer went after them. Using his enhanced smell, he managed to track down Kirby, who was hiding inside of a trash can. With some difficulty, he managed to grab Kowalski and smelled him, realizing he was not the real Max Steel. Angered, he attempted to eat him, but the real Max Steel confronted him. He told Kirby and Sydney to leave, and began to fight against Extroyer, who easily overpowered him.
T-Rextroyer is defeated.
Max activated Turbo Clone Mode to distract Extroyer while he tried to figure out a way to defeat him. After he defeated the small army of clones, Max led him away from the citizens of Copper Canyon. He headed to a dead end, where McGrath used Turbo Strength Mode to deliver a powerful blow at Extroyer. However, he quickly recovered and attempted to eat him. Sydney, who had obtained a vial of suspended animation, approached the two and threw it to Max. After Max was swallowed, the vial exploded inside of Extroyer, causing him to fall asleep. Following his defeat, the villain was later taken into custody by N-Tek and imprisoned in their mountain base.
Extroyer, alongside Dread, Naught and Toxzon, were on N-Tek's prison while the Alphalink attempted to consume Earth. Eventually, they manage to escape.
While stealing a bank, Extroyer was caught by Morphos, who claimed his villain days were over. After stealing his powers, Extroyer was sent to prison.
Max and Miles' villainous army.
After Morphos succeeded in his plan of mutating the entire Copper Canyon into monsters like him, Miles Dread headed to the Copper Canyon prison and rescued Extroyer, Toxzon and Elementors. The villains initially thought they were going to have revenge against Max Steel, but Miles managed to convince them that he was their key to win the fight against Morphos. The group was deployed to downtown Copper Canyon, where Morphos and his minions were.
Max and the villains combine their powers.
Becoming a tyrannosaurus rex, Extroyer tackled Morphos with his immense strength, but he did not suffer any damage. He revealed to the villain that he was aware of his origins and activated his Dread form, stating that Extroyer would be defeated by the hands of the one responsible for his mutation. Morphos grabbed him by his tail, and hurled him across the battlefield. The villains later combined their powers in an attempt of overwhelming Morphos, and Extroyer delivered the finishing blow after stomping him with his foot. However, he quickly recovered himself and transformed into an a hybrid form of all the powers he had stolen. Extroyer and the rest of the villains attempted to stop him, but to no avail.
With Miles' help, Max unlocked Turbo Exo Strength Mode and successfully managed to defeat Morphos. Following his defeat, Extroyer and the villains escaped, with the former stealing a bank minutes after the conclusion of the fight.
Alongside the Elementors and Toxzon, Extroyer was contacted by Professor Mortum, who informed them that he had taken down N-Tek. Despite his skepticism, Extroyer was convinced by Mortum, who mentioned that they could steal the technology of the organization from N-Tek's hidden bases in Copper Canyon. In turn, however, they should deliver the Connect-Tek, a device hidden in one said facilities.
Extroyer gorilla and his clones.
Extroyer headed to World 31 and used a N-Tek device to create an army of animal clones to assist him in his mission of obtaining the Connect-Tek. He contacted Mortum at some point, telling him that hadn't found the device, only Makinian symbols. The villain told Extroyer to proceed with his plan, even if he had to tear apart the base. Max Steel (who had infiltrated the World 31 base after receiving a distress signal) was found by Extroyer's army of clones. Using his Turbo Hammer Claw Mode, the hero led the way while C.Y.T.R.O. and Rayne followed him. They are found by Extroyer in the entrance of the base, who transformed into a gorilla to fight them. They eventually chose to retreat, however.
Extroyer defeated.
Hours later, Extroyer, the Elementors and Toxzon team-up to defeat Max and Team Turbo. He turned into a black tiger and faced La Fiera in his Turbo Tiger Mode. They engaged in a brutal battle, yet La Fiera stood victorious at the end, with Extroyer ending up unconscious after being crushed by a container.
By unknown means, Extroyer was able to assist Dread and Toxzon in capturing Max, Steel, and many members of N-Tek. Despite Max being unable to change modes due to Dread's Mode Inhibitor, Max was still able to defeat him, before both him and Toxzon were betrayed by Dread in an attempt to kill Max and his allies. After Max and Steel managed to bring Dread's rocket ship trap back to Earth, both him and Toxzon proceeded to chase Dread, seeking vengeance for his betrayal.
At some point, Extroyer became aware of a Cloning Serum that THI were developing, and, whilst being pursued by Max and Steel, broke into one of THI's labs to retrieve it.
After a brief confrontation with Max and Steel within the lab, Extroyer escaped and fled to a volcanic island where he'd set up a machine that would amplify the volcano's eruption, in order to heat up the Earth and transform it into a state similar to that of the Earth during the age of dinosaurs. At the same time, he drank THI's cloning serum, which, while in his Tyrannosaur form, enabled him to shoot ultralink shards from his body and create duplicates of himself, similar to his Scorpion form.
Whilst Max handled Extroyer and his clones via the use of Turbo Exo Strength Mode, Steel was able to destroy Extroyer's machine, before Max knocked him high above the island and into the volcano.
Appearance[]
As Troy Winter, he was an tall, muscular adult male with almost the same stature as Forge. He had blond hair, green eyes and a goatee. He wore a full-body black-purple-grey armor.
As Extroyer, his appearance resembles that of a zombie. His skin gets pale, his eyes change to purple and his teeth, along with his lower jaw, are now made out of purple crystals. He has crystals incrusted on the left side of his head, with few cracks surrounding the area. The left area of his chest has the damaged Ultralink, covered in purple crystals along with his left shoulder and forearm. His hand gets larger and he has three clawed fingers rather than a normal hand. The rest of his armor remains the same, with his legs and right arm being not affected by the accident.
When he turns into an animal, his Ultralink often expands its size. All of his modes feature crystals on the left side of their body, like Extroyer's standard humanoid form.
Personality[]
Prior to his mutation, Troy was an arrogant, ambitious, treacherous, selfish and cruel individual. His selfishness is demonstrated several times throughout in The Thrill of the Hunt, such as when he refused to negotiate with his henchmen their payment for helping him, or when he betrayed Dread and kept the Ultralink for himself. Troy doesn't cares about anyone but himself, showing no remorse for hurting others for his own gain, even going as far as showing a macabre grin while doing so, exhibiting a sadistic and deranged side of his. Troy constantly made remarks and comments referring to the nature, as when he was being chased by Max Steel, he stated that he had become the hunted. He is shown to be short-tempered, as when Naught refused to pay him for the Ultralink, he got extremely angry and threatened them with a hunting knife. Troy also doesn't cares about who is dealing with, denoting a fearless nature.
After mutating into Extroyer, a vengeful, wrathful and darker side of Troy emerges. Initially, his efforts were mostly focused in having revenge against Miles Dread for what he had done to him, but as the series progresses, Extroyer is shown to be obsessed over obtaining more power for himself. While he and Miles were enemies, they occasionally work together, as exemplified in Extroyer Unleashed and Dredd Ascendant. Due to Max Steel constantly interfering with his plans, Extroyer has a deep hatred for the hero. This is reflected on several occasions, such as in Thanks, I Think, when Extroyer got angry when Dwayne mentioned Max's name, or in Me, Myself, and Extroyer, when he attempts to taint the hero's image for he world to make people hate him. Me, Myself, and Extroyer also shows Extroyer's delusional side, as he claims to be the ultimate human being and thinks that people should be worshipping him rather than Max Steel. Additionally, Extroyer's violent side gets worse, as he constantly threatens his henchmen and imposes fear in order to make them obey him.
Abilities[]
Superhuman Strength: Prior to his mutation, Troy possessed extraordinary strength. As Extroyer, his humanoid form's conditions are enhanced thanks to his half Ultralink side. His various animal modes also provide him with varying levels of strength.
Superhuman Durability: Extroyer's body is protected by a highly durable armor, which offers him enhanced durability.
Superhuman Agility: Troy was seen agiler and faster than average person, being capable of easily overpowering Molly in combat.
Superhuman Reflexes: In his human form, Troy's reflexes and response were extraordinary, as he easily kept up with Molly's skills.
Shapeshifting: Extroyer inherits the Ultralink's ability of assimilation. He can add animals into his arsenal by touching them with his mutated clawed hand or by simply looking at them — a process referred to as "Extroying". Initially, Extroyer was limited only to animals, but after upgrading his shapeshifting abilities in Animal Attraction, he obtained the ability of assimilating otherworldly creatures, such as Ultralinks or even Max's modes. By having a secondary Ultralink attached to his chest, he can fuse his animal modes to create chimeric aberrations. After he Extroys his target, he is capable of willingly turning into them any time he pleases, as when they are Extroyed, they become a part of him.
Unlimited Stamina: Extroyer can fight during long periods without needing to recover.
Skills[]
Fighting Skills: Extroyer is shown to be proficient in facing someone in one-on-one. With his quick reflexes and expert swordmanship, he could easily surpass Molly's ninja-like abilities.
Arsenal[]
Exo Armor: Extroyer's body is protected by a highly resistant and flexible armor. It was able to endure an Ultralink explosion, having several cracks on where the Ultralink is encrusted.
Device (temporarily): A hook-shaped device that Extroyer built in Making the Grade. It allowed him to use a secondary Ultralink, giving him the ability of merging his animal forms.
Weapons Arsenal: As Troy, he had a large arsenal of hunting weapons, such as sonic blasters, an electric saw, a hunting knife and others. Despite no longer using them after his mutation, Vin and Dwayne occasionally use them during some of their heists.
Motorcycle: Extroyer rode on a black and purple motorcycle equipped with many weapons, like bombs, barbed chains and electric nets. Following his mutation, he no longer used it.
Cloning Serum (temporarily): A serum that allowed Extroyer's tyrannosaurus form to clone itself. He used in Terrorsaurus.
Weaknesses[]
Damaged Ultralink: Extroyer's Ultralink is highly unstable and damaged. In Scrambled, after it entered in contact with Steel, another Ultralink, it caused it to be damaged even further, and required a power regulator in order to properly function.
DNA Overload: Extroyer's Ultralink can only absorb one target at the time. In Driven, after multiple DNA samples fell on him, his Ultralink overloaded and mutated him grotesquely, causing him to temporarily faint.
Complex DNAs: Extroyer's is unable to transforms creatures with complex DNAs, such as the Xenoshok. He can bypass this limitation by using devices like the DNA Microfusor, however.
Extroyer is highly sensitive to shocks and explosions, especially when he is Extroying into something.
Extroyer: "Dread! I've been hoping to catch your attention. You thought blasting an Ultralink would destroy me, but you were wrong! It only made me more powerful ... and now, I am going to use that power to make you suffer!"
Troy and Dread are occasional allies. He was initially hired by Miles to steal an Ultralink from N-Tek, but Troy decided to keep the device for himself. His betrayal led to his mutation as Extroyer, and he blamed Dread for what happened to him. In Extroyer Unleashed, he attacks multiple warehouses that belonged to Miles in hopes of getting his attention, but after they face off, Dread easily subdues him and they make a deal to fetch Max Steel. They worked together again Dredd Ascendant, despite the fact Extroyer was reluctant at first as according to him, he had gotten the "short end of the stick" last time they made a deal.
Extroyer: "Max Steel! You have an annoying habit of interfering with my plans!"
Max Steel and Extroyer are archenemies. Due to the fact that Max interfered with his plans multiple times, Extroyer has a deep hatred for him. In Thanks, I Think, it's revealed that he hates it when someone mentions the hero's name. His dynamic with Max Steel is further explored in Me, Myself and Extroyer, when Extroyer comes up with a plan to taint the hero's image so he could feel what it is like to be an outcast. After he mutates into a corrupted Turbo Strength Mode, Extroyer goes out on a crime spree and terrorizes Copper Canyon.
Extroyer is also aware of Steel's existence, and refers to him as Max Steel's "pet drone". In Scrambled, he got extremely angry at Steel for damaging his Ultralink. In Making the Grade, Extroyer learns from his past encounter with Steel, and decides to capture him so he can use him to upgrade his powers.
Extroyer: "Stay down! Yourmaster seeks to destroy me? Tell him he's got another thing coming!"
According to himself in Lights, Camera, Max!, Extroyer felt a great kinship towards Makino and the Ultralinks, but he came to the conclusion that it was one-sided after he was attacked by a Deployer. He confronted a group of Ultralinks, relentlessly beating them and referring to one of them as a "pathetic creature". After this confrontation, Extroyer had a new goal in mind: to forge an army to rival Makino's armada.
Extroyer and Mortum worked together in Team Turbo to find the Connect-Tek. Initially, when Mortum introduced himself to Extroyer and the other villains, he was skeptical about him and referred to him as "Professor Noob". He eventually agrees to make a deal with him after he offers the location of N-Tek's bases spread throughout Copper Canyon. Naturally, Extroyer planned to steal the Connect-Tek for himself rather than deliver it to Mortum.

Extroyer was featured in the Extroyer Unleashed online tournament from 2013. The trophy featured a stylized illustration of Extroyer's torso.
Behind the Scenes[]
It is the second incarnation of the character. In the reboot, Extroyer has a less monstrous appearance and his crystals are purple rather than blue. Additionally, they are made out of Ultralink shards rather than Morphosos, with the latter being the material that mutated Troy in the classic series.
In the classic movie saga, Troy Winter was Max Steel's rival in extreme sports, notably being the only one he couldn't beat. A skillful mercenary, he was hired by Warren Hunter, CEO of Eclipse Industries, to obtain crystals from the Morphosos comet. During a confrontation against Max Steel, Troy obtained the crystals but fell on lava, causing the alien material to merge with his body and mutate him into the monstrous Extroyer. Gifted with superhuman conditions and shapeshifting abilities, he uses his new powers to fight Max and take Berto, Kat and Jefferson as hostages. In his final battle against Max Steel, he is defeated after being stuck in the surface of the Morphosos comet and is sent into deep space. A clone of the character is featured in Bio Crisis, the fifth movie of the saga. In Max Steel Vs The Toxic Legion, Max and Cytro are sent to destroy a Morphosos comet in space and find Troy inside of it, who had been purified and returned to his human form. Suffering from memory loss but still retaining his extracting abilities, Winter later helps Max to defeat several of Toxzon's henchmen, the Toxzoids, with his powers. Unknown to Troy, Toxzon had managed to contaminate his body when he extracted his minions, and now he had the ability of turning Winter into Extroyer. He allies with Toxzon and Elementor, forming the titular Toxic Legion, and attack a city. Max manages to purifies Extroyer with his powers, reverting him into Troy, and convinces him to stop Toxzon's plan of poisoning the entire world. After doing so, Troy bids Max farewell.
Extroyer's reboot counterpart retains several transformations from his classic version, including the spider, gorilla, black cobra, Tyrannosaurus rex, wasp, and scorpion forms.
Extroyer's early design.
An early design of Extroyer served as the base for a prototype of Quick Strike Extroyer, a 2013 toy. In it, Extroyer is completely bald, has pale skin, white eyes and white fangs. He wears a purple-colored clothing with pink accents on his chest, shoulders and biceps and black shoes. His left arm is notably less monstrous and he retains the crystal formations on the left side of his chest.
Extroyer's working name was Exxtroyer, being referred as such in credits of The Thrill of the Hunt. Additionally, some early synopsis of the season one episodes use his working name.[3]
A scrapped storyline from the first season involved Extroyer, Miles Dread, Toxzon and Ultimate Elementor teaming-up to create The Syndicate.
Extroyer had his own theme song (and several variations) in the first season that played every time when he appeared. Due to the change of composers in the second season, his theme is no longer heard.
In France, Extroyer's name was changed to "Destroyer".[4]
In his initial appearance in Extroyer Unleashed, Extroyer's transformation process seemed to be very painful to him, as he felt disoriented and screamed in pain while transforming.
Extroyer is the only villain of the series to be fused with Ultralink technology without properly being one.
As seen in Driven, his mutated hand is bigger than a human's head.
In Scrambled, it is revealed that Extroyer has seen King Kong, as when he was falling from a building, he said "I've seen this movie, and I'm not going down like that!".
Most of Troy's weapons and vehicles were purple, grey and black, the signature colors of his armor. In Team Turbo, he gained his own arch-enemy known as La Fiera, who rivals his abilities and gear and contrasts with his colors, having lighter and brigher colors contrary to Extroyer's use of dark and cold colors.
He is the first villain to have his name featured in the title of an episode.
From 2018 and onwards, Extroyer and Toxzon were featured as major antagonists in the non-canon toy videos made to promote the toy line. In this loose continuity, Extroyer was confirmed to be a Terror Energy user and was leader of a small team of supervillains comprised of himself, Night Howl and an unnamed goth villainess in Max Steel: Post-Apocalyptic World. Additionally, he also once brainwashed La Fiera to fight Max in Max Steel: Villains and Carols.
Extroyer's villainous quote, "I am vengeance! I am destruction! I am Extroyer!", resembles Batman's iconic line, "I am vengeance! I am the night! I am Batman!", from the Batman: The Animated Series episode Nothing to Fear.
