—Chomp Link, Ultralink Invasion Part Two

Chomp Link, or simply Chomp, was a recurring antagonist introduced on the second season of Max Steel. He is the result of a purple Stinger Ultralink bonding with a Venus fly-trap. Alongside Blast and Prism Link, he was a member of a small Ultralink squadron led by Metal Elementor in charge of subjugating Earth. Chomp and the Ultralinks clashed multiple times against Max Steel and N-Tek, but in they lost. After failing repeatedly, Chomp was thrown into the vacuum of space by Mega-Elementor, serving as an example to other Ultralinks of what would happen to them in case they failed him again.

Chomp Link debuted in Ultralink Invasion Part One and was voiced by Sam Vincent.

History[]

Chomp and Prism versus C.Y.T.R.O..

Alongside Blast Link and Prism Link, Chomp headed to downtown Copper Canyon to cause wreak havoc, getting N-Tek's attention. While Chomp was about to devour a civilian with his giant mouth, Max intervened and attacked him. Blast and Prism appear and team-up to attack Max. He activates Turbo Speed Mode and clones it using Turbo Clone Mode, attacking the Ultralinks multiple times. C.Y.T.R.O. later joins the battle and unleashes the Turbo Lash for Max to use. While the hero deals with Blast, C.Y.T.R.O. uses its wrecking ball to take down Chomp and Prism, managing to take them down with a single blow.

N-Tek's forces later arrive. Miles, who had appeared earlier, releases the fourth Ultralink pod to the battlefield. However, it fails to activate and bond with something. Dread and the Ultralinks retreat, despite claiming his plan was successful.

N-Tek heads to Miles' mountain lair. He sends out the Ultralink trio alongside an army of Dread Naughts to deal with them. Chomp uses his elastic plant lash to deal with the N-Tek soldiers.

After Makino's forces infiltrate the Earth, Chomp and the Ultralinks retreat to a Makino Destroyer. He questions his brothers why they weren't attacking, of which Miles responds that it was because they'd lose. He further completes saying that Makino's soldiers understood nothing about their enemy, angering Chomp and the others.

N-Tek later picks up Ultralink activity at the mountains. They are attacked by the Ultralink trio and a worm-like monster. While Prism and Blast attack N-Tek tanks, Chomp ensnares Max using his lash arm, but is quickly defeated. After Blast realizes it was a trap, he yells his comrades to run. In order to slow them down, Chomp shoots seeds at the ground, causing a plant dome to emerge. They then escpae.

Metal Elementor and the Ultralinks at the N-Tek undersea base

Metal Elementor and the Ultralinks invade N-Tek's undersea base.

Metal Elementor gathers his Ultralink army to tell them that he had obtained intel about N-Tek developing a Takion-missile powerful enough to destroy Makino. They prepare to lead an assault on N-Tek's undersea base under Metal's command.

After successfully invading the base, Metal demands an answer about the super weapon they were developing, much to their confusion. Max Steel, in his Turbo Scuba Mode, later intervenes. After N-Tek retreats, Metal and the rest of the Ultralinks split up. After chasing Max Steel for a while, Metal and the Ultralink trio corner him. Blast informs they had found nothing regarding a Takion missile, but Metal says that it didn't matter, as they could destroy Max Steel. The hero tricks Elementor into attacking the walls of the base, causing water to flood the sector they were in.

Holographic versions of Chomp, Blast and Prism invade Copper Canyon High School. After defeating Blast and Prism, Chomp tackles at Max. He launches a tray with his school food at the Ultralink's mouth, disorienting him. While joking about the situation, Chomp ensnares Max's feet with his lash and Max activates Turbo Flight Mode. He flies into the road while Chomp's lash remains wrapped around his leg. They spot a truck loaded with liquid nitrogen and throw Chomp into it, freezing him.

While attacking the place, Chomp spots Maxwell, who was in truth a hologram created by Berto. He appears unfazed by the situation and runs in circles to distract the Ultralink. He later runs into the beach when Chomp is suddenly hit by Prism, who was thrown by the real Max.

The Legend of Ja'em Mk'rah[]

The Ultralink trio corner Max

Max, in a weakened state, is cornered by the Ultralinks.

At night, a Makino Deployer deploys Blast, Chomp and Prism and two Ultralinks into the road to bond with a truck. Before they could, the two are destroyed by a missile sent out by Max Steel's Turbo Car. Chomp and Prism distract the hero while Blast attempts to infect him with a virus by shooting him with his cannon. After several missed attempts, he successfully infects Max, leaving the hero disoriented. A Makino Deployer is about to rescue them when Chomp questions why they couldn't destroy Max while he was down, of which Blast responds that they were supposed to return and report back to Elementor about the plan.

The Ultralink trio is arrested

The Ultralink trio is arrested.

Overtime, the virus begins to take hold of Steel, causing him to be unable to damper Max's T.U.R.B.O. energy signals. They later track down Max, Steel, Forge and Molly at the Copper Canyon mountains. Chomp, Blast and Prism are deployed to destroy Max and Steel, but they are met with resistance by Forge and Molly's part. Eventually, N-Tek's forces arrive to assist them. After Max successfully cures Steel, they link up and successfully defeat the Ultralink trio. They attempt to retreat, but Max destroys the Makino Deployer. Chomp, Blast and Prism are then arrested.

Chomp, Blast and Prism eventually locate the Ultralinks, who had bonded to Sydney, Kirby and Butch, at an empty water reservoir. Before they could rejoin the armada, however, Ven-Ghan uses his gear to unlink them from their hosts. Blast, Prism and Chomp are forced to retreat, with the latter claiming they were "so dead".

Chomp is thrown into the space

Chomp is thrown to the vacuum of space.

Back at the Makino Destroyer, Mega-Elementor warns them that there would be consequences to their failure. He grabs Chomp by his head and prepares to get rid of him. Chomp tries to argue, but Mega-Elementor refuses to hear him. The Ultralink is thrown to the vacuum of space, asking why he was the one chosen.

Abilities[]

  • Ultralink Abilities
    • Linking Abilities: Like others of his kind, Chomp is capable of bonding with organic and inorganic matter and weaponize it. In his case, he bonded to a Venus fly-trap, turning into a humanoid monster with plant manipulation abilities.
    • Hovering: In his unbonded form, Chomp was capable of floating mid-air, like other Ultralinks.
  • Superhuman Strength: Like other Ultralink monsters, Chomp is much stronger than an average individual.
  • Superhuman Durability: Chomp's body is shown to be extremely resistant, being capable of withstanding multiple attacks of Max Steel and C.Y.T.R.O.'s wrecking ball without any scratch.
  • Florakinesis: Chomp Link can absorb and grow all forms of plants and their properties.[1][2] His body can recreate powerful venoms and any plant saps he desires.
    • Ground Drilling: As seen in Ultralink Invasion Part One, Chomp can travel underground.
    • Seed Generation: As seen in Animal Attraction, Chomp can shoot seeds from his mouth. When they touch the ground, they instantly form a vine-based dome around the target, trapping them. He can also shoot seed-like projectiles in rapid succession at his foes.
  • Regeneration: Chomp is capable of regenerating his limbs in case they are lost in battle. If one of them is cut, he can still control it and make it a part of his body once again.
  • Lash Creation: Chomp Link can morph his arms into an elastic lash. He often uses it to ensnare or immobilize his foes.
  • Giant Mouth: Chomp possesses a giant mouth, inherited as a result of his bond with a Venus fly-trap. In Ultralinks Attack, it is shown he is capable of inflicting venomous damage on his foes by biting them or releasing a toxic goop.
  • Underwater Breathing: As exemplified in Deep Turbo Blue Sea, Chomp can breathe underwater.
  • Unlimited Stamina: Like other Ultralink monsters, Chomp can fight during long periods of time without needing to rest. In Ultralink Invasion Part One, for example, he was taken down by Max Steel and C.Y.T.R.O. multiple times, but quickly recovered himself and returned to the battle.

Weaknesses[]

  • Energy Core: Like all Ultralinks, Chomp's weak spot is located on the Ultralink on his forehead. It if hit, Chomp will be temporarily incapacitated.
  • Vulnerability to Ultralink Hunter's Weapons: Being the result of an Ultralink bond, Chomp is vulnerable to Ven-Ghan's gear.
  • Liquid Nitrogen: As seen in Journey to the Center of Copper Canyon, Chomp's holographic version was frozen after being exposed to liquid nitrogen inside of a truck.

Etymology[]

The word "Chomp" means munch or chew something vigorously and noisily something, referencing the character's large mouth. The word "Link" comes from the alien race Ultralinks.

Appearance[]

In his unbonded form, Chomp was a purple Stinger Ultralink.

After he bonded to a Venus fly-trap, Chomp became a humanoid creature whose body is made out of plants. Chomp possesses a large mouth and his Ultralink is located on the center of his head. His body is green, featuring pointy leaves and brown vines from his chest to his thighs. He has large hands made out of brown vines, each having four sharp fingers and brown feet, possessing three toes each.
